My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4 The great proof of faith is not one’s profession, but one’s literal obedience to God according to His word. Why? If we should go back before the day when a person…
“He came to His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God.” John 1:11,12 It was S. Crossman who wrote a wonderful hymn entitled “My Song Is Love Unknown.” He concludes that hymn in the last stanza: “Here might…
“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34:6 Scripture tells us that David was a man after God’s own heart. He was a man who sought and found God. What characterized David’s seeking of the eternal God, and His intervention in his life and…
“Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.” Isaiah 52:11 If God is our Creator, and He is, and if Christ is our Redeemer, and He is, what are we to be…
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6 Many have been the believers when they came to death’s door, realized afresh, counted upon, and cherished, the simple, yet profound truth and reality, that God…
