My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.” 1 Timothy 1:5 Blessed be God for that inner provision, and mechanism, of the Spirit by which God gives to man to realize that first, there is a Creator and a Redeemer, but…

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 When John the Apostle wrote the Gospel of John, and penned the phrase, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten…
“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Genesis 18:25 How can one reconcile the fact that God is, as Abraham declared, “the Judge of all the earth,” and yet, Jeremiah would declare: “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every…
“…And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be notend…” Isaiah 9:6,7 Why is it that idolatry is such a heinous sin in the eyes of God? And why did God, in speaking to and…
“And He withdrew Himself into the wilderness, and prayed.” Luke 5:16 There has never been anyone so calm under pressure as the Lord Jesus. Why? It is because of his abiding relationship with His Father, and that utter dependence upon the Spirit of peace, the Holy Spirit. However, there were times when there was the…
“For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; ‘In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.’” Isaiah 30:15 It was J.S. Pigott who wrote the stanza of the hymn: “Jesus! I am resting, resting, In the joy of what…
