My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Zeal Of The Lord

“And the disciples remembered that it was written, ‘The Zeal of Thine house hath eaten Me up.’” John 2:17 The zeal of the Lord is a very real thing.  In Psalm 69 we find it mentioned.  In the great passage in the book of Isaiah, where he writes concerning “…a child is born, and a…

The Sovereign God Of Detail

“And Gehazi said, ‘My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.’” 2 Kings 8:5 There are times when God moves in such a way that only a person who chooses to be blind, will not see it.  Such was the case of a woman whom…

The Written Living Word

“For the word of God is quick (living), and powerful, and sharper than any towedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 How is it that Isaiah could write his book…

Christ In You

“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen…” Galatians 1:15,16 It is one thing to profess faith in Christ.  It is quite another to take Him at His word, believing that…

God’s Rod Of Authority

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse…and He shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked.” Isaiah 11:4 It was to Moses that the Lord addessed the question, “What is that in thine hand?” The…

Overcoming Spiritual Opposition

“And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.” Zechariah 3:1 The Christian, or believer, often fails to take into account that he is in a spiritual battle, one where there is opposition to doing the will of God. …

Hope’s Anchor Of The Soul

“…the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil.” Hebrews 6:18,19 There is a great hymn, written by P.J. Owens, the refrain of which goes like this: “We have an anchor that keeps the soul, Stedfast and…

The Essential Of Power

“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.” Zechariah 10:1 All through the Scriptures, and from the begining of time, especially since the Fall of Man, there is the constant…

No Good Thing Withheld

“For the Lord God is a sun and shleld: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11 In this day when there are wars and rumors of wars, and nation rises against nation, there is a truth that transcends all that we see,…
