My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what He will say to me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.” Habakkuk 2:1 A disciple, by definition, basically means to be a learner, a pupil. However, that which adds weight and spiritual meaning to…
“And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord: for he (Jabin king of Canaan), had nine hundred chariots of iron: and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.” Judges 4:3 Many are the accounts In Scripture of Israel being outnumbered and with little resources, under the oppression of their enemies, and yet,…
“And one (seraphim) cried unto another, and said, Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts: The whole earth is full of His glory.” Isaiah 6:3 From the beginning of Scripture to the end, God is seen as Holy. Indeed, this is perhaps the best word to describe all of God’s attributes combined. As there…
“Fear God, and give glory to Him: for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7 The former verse can be seen today, assuming it has not been removed in protest, on a bronze plaque embedded in a…
“…casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 The spiritual battle in which every believer is engaged, as their enemy and that of God is the same, is one where the battlefield is the…
