My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 One of the great characteristics of the Apostle Paul was that he lived that which he taught and preached. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand.” Psalm 149:5,6 In the book of Revelation, the glorified Christ addresses seven churches located in Asia Minor. Each church has a specific need that…
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 In the Gospel of John, we find a most remarkably beautiful, and yet essential, truth concerning our relationship with God, with Christ. The Lord Jesus said this to His disciples:…
“…I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 When the Israelites came out of Egypt, it was by the strong and mighty hand of the Lord, not of Moses. When they experienced the deliverance at the Red Sea, it was by the Almighty power of God…
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other better than themselves.” Philippians 2:3 In the letter of Paul to the believers in Philippi, he spoke of the mind of Christ. This was not just a cursory issue to the apostle. It was the expressed outworking of…
“Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices: and the glory of the Lord filled the house.” 2 Chronicles 7:1 In Christ’s Sermon on the Mount, He addresses the matter of prayer, especially concerning not only the exercise of it, but…
“Thus saith the Lord, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assryria have blasphemed Me.” 2 Kings 19:6 When Satan confronted the Lord Jesus in the wilderness, prior to the beginning of His ministry, he attacked Him by words, deceiving words, the meaning and…
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26 It has been said that it is as impossible to create a world as it is to pray without the…
