My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us.” (2 Kings 2:13 It was the Apostle John, in the Gospel of John, who wrote: “He that…
“…and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13 Throughout Scripture the believer is faced with an extraordinary paradox. How can a God, All-Mighty though He be, speak with such simplicity to an individual’s heart, and bring…
“But now, thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel, ‘Fear not for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name, thou art Mine.” Isaiah 43:1 In the experience of Joshua the son of Nun, who was the successor of Moses, there came a…
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 4:31 What is true freedom, and where did it begin? There are many kinds of freedom, and various origins from a human standpoint. But in order to even begin to speak on…
“And He said unto them, ‘I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enenmy.” Luke 10:18,19 The Lord Jesus told His disciples on one occasion, that He was sending them forth as sheep among wolves. The…
“…and they rest not day and night, saying, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.’” Revelation 4:8 In the vision that God gave to Isaiah, he saw “…the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up.” (Is. 6:1) In the cry of the seraphims, their cry contained…
“Fear thou not, for I am with thee: be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.” Isaiah 4110 How does one come to know God, beyond the beginnning of being born of the Spirit? …
“In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.” Isaiah 6:1 The prophet Isaiah is certainly known for the book that he wrote, than by all other accounts of him in history. One thing is certain, his writings…
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” Romans 88:37 It is a wonderful thing that our victory in Christ is based on, and founded in, the love of God. In Paul’s letter to the Galatians, he underscores this truth and reality by writing, “…I live by the…
“And He saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.” Matthew 8:26 In the forty-sixth Psalm, we find a context which is so prevalent on this earth, either by the constant shifting of the elements…
