My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Just Judge

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.  But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment.” Matthew 5:21 When Jesus Christ was born,…

Christ The Warrior

“This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.” Judges 7:14 There is a picture of the Lord in Isaiah, which few talk about. Isaiah writes: “The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man,…

The Mouths Of The Prophets

‘And I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.” Joel 2:28 When the Scriptures speak of “prophets,” in particular those which are the Lord’s sevants, there is a narrow application and a broad…

Two Rivers

“By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.” Psalm 137:1 There are many rivers mentioned in the Bible, each with its own story.  There are two such rivers that require our attention, as they pertain to opposite, far-reaching effects on the lives of multitudes on this earth. …

Seeing But Not Perceiving

“Jesus saith unto him, ‘Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father.’” John 14:9 The whole of Christ’s life spent in the presence of His disciples, before the crucifixion,…

The Prayer From Babylon

“So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” Daniel 6:28 During the deportation of Judah to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel was among the captives.  Having taken his stand, along with other friends at the time, to not compromise with regard to the true worship of God,…

If God Be For Us

“If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 What does it mean for God to be FOR the believer?  Is it not the committal of…

The Faith That Staggers Not

“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith giving glory to God.” Romans 4:20 The story of Abraham, and how God made a man of faith of him, is a monumental lesson for every believer, not only in the necessity of trusting God, but the certainty of God’s…
