My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
‘And I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.” Joel 2:28 When the Scriptures speak of “prophets,” in particular those which are the Lord’s sevants, there is a narrow application and a broad…
“For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.” Genesis 19:13 In the book of Revelation, during the period described as the Tribulation, and more specifically, the Great Tribulation, John reveals to us that it…
“By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.” Psalm 137:1 There are many rivers mentioned in the Bible, each with its own story. There are two such rivers that require our attention, as they pertain to opposite, far-reaching effects on the lives of multitudes on this earth. …
“Jesus saith unto him, ‘Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father.’” John 14:9 The whole of Christ’s life spent in the presence of His disciples, before the crucifixion,…
“So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” Daniel 6:28 During the deportation of Judah to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel was among the captives. Having taken his stand, along with other friends at the time, to not compromise with regard to the true worship of God,…
“If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 What does it mean for God to be FOR the believer? Is it not the committal of…
“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith giving glory to God.” Romans 4:20 The story of Abraham, and how God made a man of faith of him, is a monumental lesson for every believer, not only in the necessity of trusting God, but the certainty of God’s…
“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.” Psalm 24:7 In Psalm 24, David answers his own question concerning the identity and essence of God by asking: “Who is this King of glory?” He then answers by writing: “The Lord…
“The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, He shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: He shall cry, yea, roar; He shall prevail against His enemies.” Isaiah 42:13 We have a tendency in our day to seek the Lord Jesus only as the very approachable, meek and lowly Christ, who came…
“And om My servants and on My handmaids, I will pour out in those days of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy.” Acts 2:18 There is a very simple formula for studying the Bible. The formula itself is nothing unless one comes to God in faith, with an undivided heart, made clean and pure by…
