My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring.” Isaiah 44:2,3 Embedded in history, in God ‘s dealings with Israel, revealing…
“Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.” 1 Timothy 1:5 We are apt to think that communion, or fellowship, with God, is doing something for Him. There are also…
“And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways.” Luke 1:76 In the book of Isaiah, we have the prophetic words describing the coming of John the Baptist, “…in the spirit and power of Elias (Elijah).” (Luke 1:17) Isaiah’s…
“O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee…,” “…to see Thy power and Thy glory, so as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.” Psalms 63:1,2 A clear vision of God, His nature, words, and works, is fundamental to faith. Paul put it specifically in this manner: “…my speech and my preaching…
“Art Thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, Thou hast ordained them for judgment; and O mighty God, Thou hast established them for correction.” Habakkuk 1:12 The moral and spiritual conditions in Israel, in Habakkuk’s day, were similar to those in our world today. Habakkuk…
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 There is the very real tendency to look at the matter of sin from man’s perspective, rather than that of God. Man, in his evaluation…
“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand.” Joshua 5:13 Whether in service or worship, the God who has called us in His faithfulness to fellowship with Him, and…
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Galatians 6:14 There is an old hymn entitled, “The Old Rugged Cross.” There are also physical crosses that folk wear around their necks, often to testify…
“…and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.” Ephesians6:16 In the letter of Paul to the Ephesians, he speaks frequently of a “mystery.” This mystery is something that has been hidden, unknown before, but now manifested, or revealed. …
