My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Put Christ’s Armor On

“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Romans 13:12 The Apostle John wrote in his first epistle: “He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.”…

The Purposes Of God

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 What is the purpose of God in creating man?  Was it that he should fall into sin, and rebellion against God, deprived of all that is truly good?  No, but…

Is It Possible To See God?

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.” Psalm 24:3,4 There are several instances in the Old Testament where the prophets had a vision of God.  Some saw Him sitting upon a throne.  Every vision that God…

“Blessed be the Lord, my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.” Psalm 144:1 In Psalm 18, David speaks of the warfare in which he was engaged.  He wrote:  “It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect…He teaches my hands to war, so that a…

The Antidote To Care And Anxiety

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.  Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he makes a very simple, and often times, overlooked statement:  “…for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”…

The Undeniable Calling Of God

“I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 3:14 In Paul’s letter to the Ephesian believers, he writes on the subject of “oneness,” at it applies to many different, and yet, connected things.  He declares the following:  “There is one body, and one Spirit, even…

The Power Of A Barley Loaf

“Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto the tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.” Judges 7:13 It was a day of great apprehension, and yet, great encouragement, when Gideon with his servant,…

Beyond Asking And Thinking

“After these things, the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, ‘Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Genesis 15:1 In God’s dealings with Abram, He began by the revelation of Himself.  Since Abram did not have the Scriptures, nor was he surrounded by a church,…
