My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:6 One of the principal reasons for which David was such a great man in the sight of God, was that he was very sensitive…
“I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Psalm 81:10 When we speak of the love of God, we need to ask ourselves the question: “How much did it cost Christ to make a sinner whole, and thus, what…
“…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19 In the economy of God, there is nothing but perfection, because God is perfect. His kingdom, and everything that pertains to Him and that kingdom, is perfect. This is why the…
“Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion, put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.” Isaiah 52:1 The initiative of God for the spiritual blessing of men begins with His word, or the declaration of His will. Why? …
“…let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of faith.” Hebrews 12:12,13 Christianity is not only the creation of something new, but a call to live by faith in a Savior and Lord who is before us, and in us. The writer of the…
“For ye shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12 In the gospel of Luke, at the occasion of Mary, the mother of Jesus, coming to visit…
“For the bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” John 6:33 Heaven’s bread is not a thing, but a Person. It is Christ Himself. That which distinguishes the bread from all others is this: it has not only the power to make the dead to live,…
“For He saith, ‘I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation, have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation.’” 2 Corinthians 6:2 There is not a moment in time when the Father is not worthy to be worshipped, nor the…
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Chrit sitteth on the right hand of God.” Colossians 3:1 What is the difference between those things “above” and those which are of this earth? If we look at creation, under the curse of God because of Adam’s sin, we catch…
