My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

Speak To The Wind

“And then He said unto me, ‘Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, ‘Thus saith the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.’” Ezekiel 7:9 There are several times in Scripture where we note that the Lord speaks…

The Practice Of Waiting On God

“Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that He have mercy upon us.” Psalm 123:2 In the ongoing dealings of God with godless Ahab, He spoke…

When Peace Is Not An Option

“Therefore, being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 Scripture speaks a great deal concerning the matter of peace, the peace that needs to be known between God and the sinner, but also that which should exist between men.  Paul writes concerning our relationship with others by…

God’s Answer To The Thirsting Soul

Concepts Of Communion With God

“Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.” 1 Timothy 1:5 We are apt to think that communion, or fellowship, with God, is doing something for Him.  We might even think that it is some elevated philosophical perspective, or method of…

Restore, Renew, Revive, Refresh

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19 There are a good many passages in Scripture which speak of natural, physical thirst, but also of spiritual thirst, a soul’s thirsting after God.  There are also…

The Preparation For Christ’s Coming

“And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways.” Luke 1:76 In the book of Isaiah, we have the prophetic words describing the coming of John the Baptist, “…in the spirit and power of Elias (Elijah).” (Luke 1:17) Isaiah’s…

Faith’s Strengthening Vision

“O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee…,” “…to see Thy power and Thy glory, so as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.” Psalms 63:1,2 A clear vision of God, His nature, words, and works, is fundamental to faith.  Paul put it specifically in this manner:  “…my speech and my preaching…
