My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 When Paul wrote the letter to the believers in Phillippi, he did so as a prisoner of Nero in Rome. And yet, in that epistle there is an evident attitude of triumph and victory, springing forth…
“Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little.” Psalm 2:11,12 It is a very sobering thought that a man can not only reject Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world, but then…
“Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.” Acts 10:33 The descendants of Abaham, specifically, the nation of Israel, had been chosen by God where He would reveal His name, and choose Jerusalem to be the place where Solomon’s temple would be built. To…

“And Moses said unto the Lord, ‘See, Thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and Thou hast not let me know whom Thou wilt send with me.’” Exodus 33:12 Scripture tells us that “The Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.” (Ex. 33:11) It also tells us…
“O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? Bring him unto Me.” Mark 9:19 Perhaps nowhere is faith proven, or tested so greatly, than in one’s family, or in dealing with those whom we love most. Such was the case of a father, mentioned in the Gospel…
“Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” 2 Kings 7:1 Throughout Scripture we find instances when, because of the intervention…
“So shall my word be that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 As was the manner and means of God, when He created the world, so it is…
“Thus saith the Lord, ‘In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee.” Isaiah 49:8 In Psalm 69, the Psalmist speaks of “an acceptable time,” as that point at which the Lord, in His wisdom and mercy, God answers his prayer. The important point with regard…
