My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.

The Measure Of God’s Blessing

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3;20,21 In a well-known hymn by Thomas Kelly, he writes: “Look, ye…

The Call To Honor And Usefulness

“You therefore, my son, be strong  in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timonthy2:1 When the Apostle Paul wrote his second letter to Timothy, his son in the faith, it was at a point in time when he knew he would soon be leaving this world to be with Christ.  Of great importance…

The Blessedness Of Thanksgiving

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and BE THANKFUL.” Colossians 3:15 One of the great proofs of godly faith is the thankful heart.  Why is this so, and why is every believer exhorted to be thankful, even to give thanks in all…

The Preface To True Faith

“Who has performed and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord, am the first; and with the last, I am He.” Isaiah 41:4 Faith begins by the revelation of God to the heart, according to the truth, and by the Spirit.  But how can this be if man is born dead…

The Voice Of The Trumpet

“And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, ‘Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.’” Revelation 4:1 When John the Baptist came on the stage of history, he was one who was characterized as, “the voice of one crying in…

The Lord’s Sabbath Rest

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet.” Revelation 1:10 Why did God create the Sabbath, or the seventh day on which He rested.  Was He tired, or weary with all that He had made? Isaiah tells us that, “…the Everlasting God, the…

The Priorities In The Last Days

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.” 2 Timothy 4:1,2 When the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, his son in the faith, He was approaching the…

The Path To Know God’s Blessing

“Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.” Psalm 66:20 In the book of Isaiah, when God desired and willed to awaken the people of Israel to a new beginning in communion with Him, He would speak concerning “comfort,” or the very present help of God applied, and…

The Singular Eternal Foundation

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11 When the Lord Jesus used the illustration, or parable, concerning two builders and two foundations, He was speaking of eternal things, things which would last into eternity, and those which would not.  He spoke in Matthew’s…

The Certainty Of One’s Calling

“He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24 When Jeremiah the prophet was called of God, he knew it, the Lord confirming it on the basis of His working before Jeremiah was born.  When Moses was called of God to go to Egypt and deliver the people of Israel,…
