My wife and I served as evangelical, protestant missionaries in France for eleven and a half years, after which I became the pastor and director of a Christian school in a French-speaking evangelical church, L'Eglise Evangelique de Saint Jerome, in Quebec, Canada. After serving in Quebec for five years, we then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where I became the pastor of the First Evangelical Church of Greenville. In 1995, we moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where I eventually assumed the management of the family business, and remained there until 2012, when our family moved to Meridian, Idaho. My wife and I have six children. These short devotionals are born out of the loss of one of these children in particular, with the hope and prayer that they will serve to encourage and inspire those who read them in their walk with Christ. God bless you all, and may we finish well the race set before us.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:1 In the book of Isaiah we read where the Lord speaks of weapons of the enemy that will face the believer. There is a promise associated with those weapons which are formed against the people of…
“Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 The spiritual war in which the Christian is engaged to fight, is a difficult one, not only because of the nature of it, but because it is an invisible one. The Apostle Paul…
“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” Galatians 3:24 Salvation is a very curious thing primarily because its whole basis is founded and accomplished by the testimony of One which is not of this creation. It is also based upon a message, or the…
“For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?” 1 Corinthians 14:8 From a prophetical standpoint, the mention of the trumpet, and its specific, powerful and clear sound, is significantly important as it announces God’s timing for certain events that shall certainly occur on this earth in the last…
“Wherein He (God) hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself.” Ephesians 1:8,9 What is a mystery from God’s perspective but that which is hidden, not revealed as yet, but which in His…
“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9 Throughout the Old and New Testaments, we find that God reveals Himself as the Covenant Keeping God. What is a covenant but that commitment by two individuals to honor and agreed upon a certain…
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.” John 17:1 In the days of Habakkuk the prophet, whose book we find in the Old Testament, we find a man of God who is deeply torn by what might be termed a coming storm. However, it is more than a…
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16 Christianity is not a set of rules, regulations, principles and promises. It is a LIFE lived, but one which is specific beyond comprehension or measure, unless we limit God by unbelief in…
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful unto Him and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4 When Satan confronted the Lord Jesus in the wilderness, offering to him “all the kingdoms of the world,” (Luke 4:5), he did so with the power to accomplish it. We know this from the…
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14 Why is the cross of Christ central in the proclamation of God to the world that salvation has come to men, a salvation that…
